Progress of reopening phases in Kansas City

Kansas City shows slight progress in reopening of businesses while restrictions continue to lift.

As stay-at-home orders in both Missouri and Kansas begin to lift, Kansas City has been slow to open.

In Missouri, to continue to combat the spread of COVID-19, Governor Parson the Show Me Strong Recovery Order has been extended through June 15. After the first stay-at-home order was declared by Parson on April 6, the initial recovery phase began nearly a month later on May 4, in which steps were taken to slowly reopen economic and social activity.

Likewise, in Kansas, the first phase began on May 4, a reopening plan called Ad Astra. Currently in the third phase of the plan, Kansans can expect to see the final phase begin on June 22. “As we prepare for the future, everyone has a responsibility to do their part in protecting their fellow Kansans. This framework is not a return to the life we knew just a few short months ago. Until a vaccine is developed, we must continue to adhere to the fundamental mitigation practices that have kept us alive up to this point,” Governor Kelly said in a note to her fellow Kansans.
