Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly says that the state is ready for Phase 3 reopening plans, even with trends of increases on COVID-19 cases in the state, though they are improving.
Kansas Department of Health and Environment Secretary Dr. Lee Norman and Kelly said that schools and childcare facilities should be continued to be monitored.
The second phase of Kansas’ reopening plan, which allowed more consumer access to businesses, has already started.
Kelly modified the order, saying that the reason for the change is due to the slowing number of COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations in the state.
Mass gatherings are restricted to 15 people up from 10 in the prior phase, known as 1.5. Casinos may reopen in the state, but bars, nightclubs and pools are still restricted.
A third phase, which includes gatherings of 45 people, was approved by Kelly today.
