Kick off the holiday season with the annual Celebrate Olathe and Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, Dec. 6, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Olathe Community Center (1205 E. Kansas City Rd.) Join Mayor Michael Copeland and Fox 4 reporter Matt Stewart as they light the Mayor’s Christmas tree. Then, enjoy an evening of music with the Olathe Civic Band and choirs from Olathe Public Schools, face painting, photo booth, cookie decorating station, and a visit with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Joey the Elf. Local food trucks will sell food throughout the night. Parking and free shuttle service will be available at Olathe North High School (600 E.
