This workshop takes participants on a tour of our 100 acres of cultivated landscapes. Scouts will gather ideas for their own dream garden designs, which will be completed by cutting and pasting images from garden magazines. Participants will learn which garden plants do and do not survive our growing conditions. Scouts will experiment with seeds to determine the best growing practices and take home their experiment to observe and record which plants thrive. This experience is designed for Juniors to complete requirements for the Girl Scouts’ Gardener Badge. Materials and instruction are included.

The program satisfies steps one through four in the Junior’s Gardener Badge Booklet. Scouts must grow a garden (step five) on their own or with their troop to complete the requirements for the badge. The program will be two and a half to three hours in length. Instructor: Mark Sharp, Powell Gardens K-12 and Family Programs Coordinator
