UMKC Loses 2014 Princeton Review Rankings

Just days after a state-ordered review determined that UMKC’s Bloch School of Management could justify its national rankings of graduate and undergraduate entrepreneurship programs as among the Top 25 in the nation, the Princeton Review has withdrawn the designations it bestowed in 2014, the university announced today.

The Review’s decision was based on inflated statistics regarding the number of students clubs, mentoring programs and certain enrollment figures. Chancellor Leo Morton said that as a consequence of that action, UMKC had requested that the publication withdraw the university’s rankings for the previous three years, as well.

“While Bloch had revised its application process in 2014 and has great confidence in that year’s rankings submission, we understand why the Princeton Review has taken this step,” Morton said in a statement released this afternoon. “Even one inaccurate data point is one too many, and our integrity is paramount. With that in mind, we have requested that The Princeton Review withdraw our rankings from 2011, 2012 and 2013, based on the inaccurate information provided for those years.”
