How do you grow and keep one year’s supply of onions? Learn about the differences between fresh and dried onions, get a behind-the-scenes look at planting and harvesting for the Powell Gardens Community Supported Agriculture program and the nearly 6,000 onions grown in the Heartland Harvest Garden each year, and an understanding of the curing, clean-up, and proper storage of onions so they will keep. Participants will receive hands-on experience in the garden while learning all about onion growth patterns and cycles of growth in the Midwest climate. Participants should dress to work in the garden—all tools and supplies are provided. Each participant will receive an onion to take home.
