Creative Planning has entered into an acquisition agreement for Portland, Oregon-based investment consulting firm, RVK, Inc.

RVK advises over 200 institutional clients with approximately $4.3 trillion in assets, according to a Tuesday release. The client base consists of public and private retirement plans, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, health systems and other sophisticated asset owners.

The transaction is expected to close in January 2027. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Its deep consulting expertise, rigorous investment research and commitment to putting clients first align closely with how we operate at Creative Planning,” Peter Malluk, Creative Planning president and CEO, said in a release. “Together, we’ll be able to bring even greater scale, resources and insight to institutions navigating increasingly complex investment and governance decisions.”

The RVK team includes 65 members: 40 professionals on the consulting team and 25 on the investment manager research team, according to the firm’s website.

“Becoming a Creative Planning affiliate will allow us to preserve the client-focused approach and consulting model that have defined RVK while providing our clients and employees with access to broader resources, technology and capabilities,” Josh Kevan, CEO of RVK, said in the release.

Goldman Sachs & Co. is the acting exclusive financial advisor to Creative Planning.

Most recently, Creative Planning acquired the Lee’s Summit-based insurance brokerage firm, Lovell Insurance Group, in July. That acquisition added the firm’s team of three to Creative Planning’s portfolio, as well as boosting its commercial insurance capabilities.
