NKC Health Names Scott Chapman Medical Staff President

NKC Health has selected Dr. Scott Chapman as the medical staff president.

Chapman, who is currently serving as a cardiologist with NKC Health Heart Care, began his one-year term as the medical staff president on July 1, according to a release. He first joined Meritas Health, a subsidiary of North Kansas City Hospital, in 2005. The two hospital entities rebranded to NKC Health in 2025.

Chapman succeeds Dr. Ian Rosbrugh, a urogynecologist and reconstructive pelvic surgeon with NKC Health Urogynecology.

In his new role, Chapman chairs the Medical Staff Executive Committee and will act as a liaison between the medical staff and the hospital’s administration. NKC Health operates with more than 4,700 staff members — including over 600 dedicated physicians — along with specialists and caregivers across 35 locations.

“I have had the privilege to work alongside doctors whom I deeply respect at NKC Health for over 21 years,” Chapman said in the release. “The camaraderie among providers at this hospital is unique and I am blessed to have had the opportunity to work in this environment. I hope to serve the medical staff by supporting their ongoing efforts to provide world-class care to our patients.”

Chapman was recognized in Ingram’s Top Doctors Class of 2017. Before joining the NKC Health system, he earned a degree in electrical engineering and worked as a field engineer for a medical device company, which in turn exposed him to clinical trials in intensive-care units and operating rooms.
