Andrea Bough Named Interim President & CEO of Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City

Kansas City Councilwoman Andrea Bough has stepped down from her position and has joined the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City as the organization’s next interim president and chief executive officer.

Bough began her new role on August 26. Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas will recommend a replacement for Bough on the KCMO City Council. While on the council, Bough represented the 6th District at Large.

Her appointment follows the leadership transition of Tracey Lewis, who served as president and CEO of EDCKC since July 2022.

The leadership transition comes as ‘Kansas City refines how economic development supports business growth, strengthens neighborhoods, and delivers measurable public benefit,’ according to an EDCKC release.

“EDCKC has an experienced team and important work underway across Kansas City,” Bough said in the release. “My priority is making sure that work continues while listening to our staff, our partners, and the communities we serve. We also have an opportunity to make the process easier to navigate, build on Kansas City’s strengths, and clarify the results of our work. Growth should create opportunities for businesses, neighborhoods, and families in all parts of the city.”

Bough brings with her more than 20 years of experience in economic development, commercial real estate, land use, and public service. Before joining the EDCKC, Bough served on the city council from 2019. She is also a real estate and development law attorney and served as a member of the Kansas City, Missouri, area team at Lewis Rice, LLC, a St. Louis-based law firm.

“Andrea brings the experience, relationships and understanding of Kansas City essential to turn our economic-development priorities into results for businesses, neighborhoods and families across the city,” Lucas said in the release.
