The Shawnee City Council has approved Oddo Development’s plans to build a 277-apartment complex near Renner Road and I-435.

City Council members voted unanimously, 8-0 in favor of the multi-family apartment building that would be four to five stories high with a two-story, below-grade parking garage.

The project will be located to the east of Shawnee Mission Park, between Renner Road and I-435. The site includes 8.89 acres of undeveloped land and 1.2 acres of right-of-way, while the proposed building will encompass nearly 244,000 square feet.

Oddo plans to develop several major amenity features such as a clubhouse, pool, fitness center, rooftop courtyard, dog park and pro shop. Other minor amenities include a sports & tranquility courtyard, BBQ areas, yoga area, golf simulator, dog washroom and a bicycle repair shop, according to city documents.

The site has been vacant under an office and commercial zoning designation since 1998. The property is within the Midland Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District. Before the final site plan is approved, the Planning Commission will review the proposed land use against the TIF District.

The project was first submitted to the City of Shawnee in June before moving on to a public hearing and then to the Planning Commission in July, where it received a 6-0 vote to move to Council review.

NSPJ Architects is the lead architect on this project.
