The University of Kansas Health System announced that Monica Lubeck has been promoted to chief financial officer.
Previously, Lubeck served as the chief revenue officer and senior vice president and chief financial officer of the Kansas City Division. KU Health revealed in a LinkedIn post that Lubeck would be promoted to CFO for the entire health system, effective July 1.
Doug Gaston, who is the current health system senior vice president and CFO, will transition out of the role while continuing to support several critical projects. Gaston became CFO in 2018 after joining the health system in 2017.
Lubeck brings more than 35 years of healthcare finance, audit and compliance experience to her new role. In her career, she has spent over 27 years with KU Health, first joining in 1999 as director of internal audit, when she helped establish the internal audit function and assumed responsibility for compliance.
She served as executive director of audit and compliance and chief compliance officer for 18 years. Lubeck assumed the role of senior vice president and CFO for the Kansas City Division in 2018.
Before joining KU Health, Lubeck held managed care and public accounting roles in St. Louis with BJC Health System, Health Management Partners and Deloitte & Touche, according to the LinkedIn post.
“I see this role as an opportunity to more directly impact the future of the health system and participate in decisions that shape our strategic direction,” Lubeck said in the post. “Healthcare finance is challenging, with many factors outside our control, but I take seriously the responsibility that comes with helping guide the organization forward.”
