The National Association of Insurance Commissioners announced that Jeffrey Johnston has been named its next chief executive officer.
Johnston will be appointed CEO of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), effective June 1. Johnston has been serving as interim CEO since late October last year, following Gary Anderson’s departure from the organization.
Prior to the role of interim CEO, Johnston served as chief regulatory affairs officer. During his time at NAIC, he also served as the chief financial officer and held several other leadership roles over his more than 25 years at the organization.
In his new role, Johnston will oversee NAIC operations and work with members to advance key strategic objectives, focused on financial oversight, data modernization, resilience, and responsible innovation, according to a release.
“I’m honored to continue serving the NAIC and its Members in this role,” Johnston said in the release. “The NAIC’s strength comes from collaboration between Members and our staff, and I look forward to working together to support state insurance regulators and the consumers they serve.”
The NAIC is a 155-year-old insurance standard-setting organization with chief insurance regulators in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. NAIC is headquartered in Kansas City at 1100 Walnut St.
