AdventHealth South Overland Park has appointed Jeremy Carlson as its new chief nursing officer.

Carlson will begin his new role effective January 19, according to a release shared with Ingram’s Magazine. He brings more than 22 years of clinical and operational leadership experience to AdventHealth.

“Our patients deserve exceptional, compassionate, seamless care — and Jeremy’s leadership will help us continue delivering on that promise,” president and CEO of AdventHealth South Overland Park, Dallas Purkeypile, said in the release. “He is deeply committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and whole-person care, which not only benefits patients but elevates health and well-being across our community.”

Before joining AdventHealth, Carlson most recently served as the chief nursing officer for Ballad Health in Southwest Virginia, where he led nursing and clinical operations for four hospitals, two cancer centers and multiple outpatient services.

Carlson has also served in key leadership roles in emergency services at Methodist Le Bonheur South Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, for over a year, and at Munson Healthcare in Cadillac, Michigan, for more than four years.

Carlson’s previous experience also includes more than 9 years at Spectrum Health, where he most recently served as the director of business operations from 2014 to 2016. Spectrum Health was acquired by Corewell Health in 2022. In his early career, Carlson worked as a registered nurse at AdventHealth Calhoun, Georgia, as well as Wellstar Health System in the Atlanta metropolitan area, according to his LinkedIn profile.

AdventHealth has announced a string of new leadership roles across its network of hospitals. In November, AdventHealth Shawnee Mission named Stephanie Rosentreter as its new chief financial officer. Before that, AdventHealth announced Dr. Bela Nand as the new regional chief medical officer for the Mid-America region.
