The Olathe City Council has received an annexation application for around 80 acres of land that would become an industrial and logistics business park.
The application was submitted by Aspen Industrial Land Fund I, LLC, for the annexation of approximately 80.45 acres at the northwest corner of 171st Street and Lone Elm Road, near Interstate 35. The property is within Olathe’s Growth Area, which is currently designated on the Future Land Use Map of the Comprehensive Plan as an Employment Area.
The Olathe City Council is set to review the application at its Tuesday meeting.
If approved, the applicant intends to build a business park, which could include commercial, office, manufacturing and distribution purposes. Site plans for the business park were not included in the Tuesday meeting packet.
In its application, Aspen is also requesting a bond issuance and a 10-year, 80% property tax abatement.
The property is owned by the Steven M. Mackey Revocable Trust.
Neighboring the property is Aspen’s planned Hedge Industrial Park to the west. Aspen received rezoning approval from the City of Olathe for Hedge in August. Hedge is a 1 million-square-foot park that will include six single-story buildings, located at the southeast corner of 167th Street and Hedge Lane.
