The Olathe Planning Commission has approved AdventHealth’s request to rezone 4 acres for the construction of a new medical office building.

The planning commission voted to rezone the site, located at 14354 W. 119th Street, from a single-family residential district to an office district on Monday.

The site is currently occupied by the former Ethiopian Fellowship Christian Church, which was constructed in 2004. A historical single-family home is also located on the site that was incorporated into the church. The current structures will be demolished to make way for the facility.

AdventHealth’s new Olathe campus will be a 2-story, 22,528-square-foot building operating Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, an off-campus emergency department will operate 24/7 year-round. The development is expected to add 70 new jobs to the area.

The medical office building’s services include primary care, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory testing. The ER will treat urgent conditions such as chest pain, broken bones, breathing problems, allergic reactions, and high fevers, as well as offer patient transfer to the main hospital for surgery or advanced care.

The Olathe City Council will review during its next meeting on Oct. 21.
