Women Empowering Women will hold its inaugural business expo and event on Saturday, June 10 at the North Kansas City YMCA. Sponsored by Benson Financial Solutions, the event is led by BFS owner Kathy Benson, who has a passion for helping women in any stage of their life or career.
“You may want to own a business or dream of having a career in a Fortune 500 company,” Benson said. “You may be involved in network marketing or have a creative business such as freelance writing. Our choices may be different but as women, we can support each other.”
The event will feature displays by local women-owned businesses, door prizes and guest speakers.
“We are privileged to have two women who have persevered through adversity know that both failure and success have a place in dealing with life,” Benson said. “Brenda Myers and Miranda Allen are breast cancer survivors and co-founders of a non-profit for unsupported pregnant women. They will inspire you with their love of helping others acquire skills to support themselves through mentoring and with the belief that attitude is everything. If Miranda’s name sounds familiar, she ran for a seat in Congress as an independent to represent Kansas’s Fourth District.”
Allen is the CEO of Radiofrequency Safety International and Myers is the chief customer officer.
Benson said she is inspired by Kansas City Mayor Sly James’ announcement of a women’s empowerment initiative in March. The initiative is the first of its kind in the nation.
“As a woman who owns a business, I want to help other women fulfill their dreams,” Benson said. “I applaud the mayor for helping all of us.”
