Centerpoint Medical Center Welcomes New CEO Patrick Rafferty

HCA Midwest Health announced Patrick Rafferty is the new chief executive officer at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

Rafferty took on his new role effective in July. He most recently served as the CEO of Overland Park Regional Medical Center for nearly 2 years. Since then, he has overseen key capital investments, forged strong partnerships with physicians and EMS providers, and helped improve patient volume and operational efficiency across cardiovascular, surgical, trauma, GI, and women’s services, according to a release.

“It’s an honor to serve as CEO of Centerpoint Medical Center, a cornerstone of healthcare in Eastern Jackson County,” Rafferty said in the release. “Centerpoint has a proud legacy of delivering compassionate, high-quality care, and I’m inspired by the opportunity to build on that strong foundation. I look forward to working closely with our physicians, nurses, staff, and our community to expand access, enhance the patient experience, and deepen our impact on the health and well-being of the regions we serve.”

With years of experience, he has held leadership roles, including associate administrator and chief operating officer at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center. Rafferty was also the administrative services coordinator for the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at The University of Iowa Health Care and a surgical Technician at River Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Rafferty earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Iowa.
