AdventHealth announced the appointment of Dr. Bela Nand as the new regional chief medical officer for the Mid-America region.

Nand will take on her new role effective July 29, according to a release. She will serve as the primary CMO for AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, while also supporting quality, safety, and physician engagement initiatives across the AdventHealth Mid-America Region. Additionally, she will provide CMO support for AdventHealth Ottawa.

“When AdventHealth Shawnee Mission calls to serve, you don’t say no,” Nand said in the release. “It’s my honor and privilege to serve our esteemed physicians and our patients in the heartland where AdventHealth Shawnee Mission has had a 60-year history of providing exceptional, whole-person care to Kansas City and beyond.”

Nand joins AdventHealth from UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale and La Grange, where she served as CMO for the two hospitals. While in Chicago, she led numerous initiatives that enhanced clinical quality, strengthened physician engagement and improved patient experience across multiple hospitals.

The announcement of Nand’s new role follows several other leadership appointments for the AdventHealth Lenexa City Center. In February, the hospital selected its chief financial officer and chief nursing officer. Then, the hospital named Dr. Mark Brady as its chief medical officer in May.

The AdventHealth Lenexa City Center, a part of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, is now open. The hospital officially opened for patient care on July 15.
