The team from Ameristar Casino shot an even-par 288 to claim the Grand Champion Cup. They were led by Jackson Parker, who turned in a 71. Jerry Holzenthal and Sam Cacioppo each recorded 72 and Joe Totoro tallied a 73. Their consistency helped them outdistance INTRUST and the Burns & McDonnell and the Lockton Companies team, which came in with a 12-over 300.
Mike Maddox and the team from INTRUST Bank were the 2nd place winning team with an 8-over 296. Maddox shot a 1-under 71, Peter Shriver and Brad Perry recorded 74s, and Ron Baldwin shot a 77.
The Men’s Medalist was Bryan Norton of Lockton Companies with a 2-under 70. He gave his teammates plenty of credit. “We had a pretty good team,” he said. “We were hitting good drives out there. It makes it a whole lot easier when you are 280 yards off the tee in the middle of the fairway.” The Women’s Medalist was Jennifer Westphal of Fleishman- Hillard at even-par 72. The only spin necessary for this PR pro was on her approach shots. “I was helped out a ton by the guys on my team,” she said. “My driver wasn’t good, but theirs were. If I had to use my own drives, I probably would have shot in the 80s.” The Longest Drive was hit by John Russ of UMB. Russ received a 17-bottle wine cooler rack, which was donated by the Nebraska Furniture Mart. The Longest Putt was made by Grover Simpson of Lockton Com-panies, and the Straightest Drive was hit by Mark Teahan of George Shaw and Associates. Simpson and Teahan each won $50 gift certificates to the City Tavern in the Freighthouse District of downtown Kansas City.
