Law Firms adjust to new realities of their marketplace

Sparkling blue autumn skies provided the backdrop as a number of area lawyers and managing partners took part in Ingram’s 9th annual Legal Industry Outlook assembly.

The assembly took place October 7 at the magazine’s Crossroads District office in downtown Kansas City. The assembly was chaired by George Wolf, the firm’s general

litigation division chairman, and John Murphy, the firm’s chairman.

Among the topics discussed: the impact of the economic downturn on the legal profession, changes in long-established billing procedures and the fate of the venerable billable hour, challenges with associate training and retention, and emerging opportunities related to Kansas City’s business sectors.
