Slice of Ag

The Slice of Agriculture program incorporates into the curriculum and learning experiences for fourth-graders: agriculture conservation environment safety health and nutrition A highlight of the program is an entertaining field trip that makes the experience of learning about the industry of agriculture inviting, fun and educational. Because a fourth-grader’s favorite food is probably pizza, the Slice of Agriculture field trip uses the ingredients of a pizza as the basis for learning about where their food comes from. It will take place at the Overland Park Convention Center from Jan. 8 at 8 a.m. to Jan. 9 at 4 p.m. info

Ronan Donovan "Social By Nature"

Humans are, at our core, social mammals. We build relationships, communicate, reproduce, establish territories, and adapt to shrinking resources. Chimpanzees, wolves, gorillas, and bears are among the most charismatic of the social mammals we know—besides ourselves. They’re also under threat. Join biologist turned photographer Ronan Donovan as he talks about the incredible similarities we humans share with other social mammals in the animal kingdom, and what we can learn from them. info
