Growing the Metropolis

In years past we at Ingram’s have labored to present a Power Elite that was actually something more than a who’s who of the rich and semi-famous in Kansas City. This never has been easy. After all the sorting, we inevitably have been left with the“apples” of noisy activity on the one hand and the “oranges” of weight and solidity on the other, and been asked to measure their worth.

No, this has not been easy. This has not been possible.

This year, however, the formula suggests itself. In the past two years, the city has enjoyed an almost unprecedented stretch of genuine and useful development activity. Not all of this activity has resulted in bricks and mortar, at least not yet, but the financial transactions are being made, the ground is being cleared, and the structures are beginning to rise. In this issue, we are going to recognize those people who have made the area grow. There is no doubting the value of weight and wealth, but unless that money is in play and on the table, we will leave its measurement to its owner.
