Grad Schools Reach Out to Region

For those who have not been there, the new, high-tech Kansas State University - Olathe innovation campus is well worth the visit. It was there on a perfectly Kansan—warm, sunny, dry—September afternoon that Ingram’s Magazine held its 13th annual Higher Education Industry Outlook assembly—this year focusing on graduate studies programs.

Dr. Dan Richardson, the unusually titled “CEO” of the campus, welcomed academic leaders from across the bi-state area and gave a tour after the event. As he explained, the facility is a graduate campus with a focus on animal health and food safety. The boardroom in which the group met conveys the connection between industry and academia, as the goal of the campus is to have research scientists from academia and research scientists from industry provide grad students a broad exposure to both.
