Making sure his products stay on the leading edge of technology is what keeps the pressure on himself and his staff.
“We’re always trying to find new ways to improve the product’s performance or maintain our competitive advantage,” Zaroor says. “Getting ahead of your competitors is one thing. Staying ahead of them is something else.”
So far, Zaroor’s company is succeeding at a pace any company in any industry would envy. Since 2003, Advantage PressurePro has grown by an astronomical 277 percent.
Demand for the PressurePro product line is likely to stay high, at least until someone comes along with a leak-proof tire.
“In the trucking industry, tires are the third highest cost, behind labor and fuel,” Zaroor says. “Thirty percent of all tires wear out prematurely due to low pressure. A simple thing like maintaining correct tire pressure can make a huge impact on the bottom line if you own a fleet of trucks, or other vehicles.”
The two primary components of a PressurePro device are the sensor and the monitor. The sensor is screwed onto the tire stem, replacing the dust cap. The sensor checks air pressure in the tire once every seven seconds, 24 hours a day, relaying pressure data to the monitor located in the cab or passenger compartment of the vehicle. The monitor displays data from each tire separately. When the sensors detect low pressure, the monitor will alert the driver through sound and visual indicators.
Convenience is a differentiating feature of the PressurePro, according to Zaroor. He says competing products are difficult to install, sometimes requiring the tire be removed from its rim.
“When tire pressure is low the tires get hot,” explains Zaroor. “This damages the casings and sidewalls and leads to serious problems. Properly inflated tires use less fuel, wear longer, provide greater stability and handling which is a safety concern. Your tires are the only thing between your vehicle and the ground. When you’re speeding along at 60–70 miles per hour you want to know that your tires are doing their job to keep you safe.”
Zaroor says newer versions of the PressurePro marketed to the trucking industry will not only send data to the monitor in the truck cab, but also to a computer in the trucking company’s office, allowing company personnel to also monitor pressure levels in their entire fleet. Devices that send tire data to a driver’s cell phone are also in the works.
“We’re constantly expanding into new market segments and new geographic markets,” says Zaroor. “The RV segment is our biggest market. But we’re reaching out to military and industrial markets and achieving success there. We’re also entering Chinese markets. Our business model is to partner with businesses who can help us grow into new markets. And it’s worked very well for us. We also have the world’s greatest staff. We’re well equipped to compete in a high-pressure environment.”
