John Novak john novak
John Novak takes the principals he strives to uphold in his personal life—taking care of others, giving back, creating relationships—and applies them to his professional life. As director of business development for JE Dunn Construction, Novak advances the company’s K-12, higher education and healthcare projects and nurtures relationships for the $3 billion company.
“I am proud to contribute to the development of a company that puts integrity, values and relationships above everything else,” Novak says.
The 35-year-old is a leader in his community as well as in his company, and his dedication to giving back to both is evident in his work outside of work. He is an alumnus of the Leadership Kansas program, a board member for Mission Hills Country Club, an alumni board member for the Centurions Leadership Program and a committee chair for the American Cancer Society.
This married father of two has completed several triathlons, including the MS 150 bike tour and counts his time living in Vera Cruz, Mexico among his many learning experiences. “I hope everyone has the chance to appreciate cultures outside our country.”
William Quick william quick
“Each of us should direct our efforts in a way that those who follow
will appreciate,” says Bill Quick, a vice president for the national law firm Polsinelli Shughart. This is the life lesson Quick thinks about when he looks at the unfinished oil painting hanging in his office. The artist was Quick’s father, who was killed in an automobile accident when Quick was a year old.
Quick, who is married with two children, directs his efforts to an array of community and professional causes. He provides pro bono legal counsel for the Crossroads Community Association, which he helped form 10 years ago, and he is active in the Kansas City Volunteer Lawyers & Accountants for the Arts. He holds numerous leadership positions in the Boy Scout’s Heart of America Council and is a den leader for a local Cub Scout pack. He serves as the director of Shawnee Mission Education Foundation and on the exec- utive committee of the Friends of the Deanna Rose Farmstead. Aside from his “9-to-5” business-oriented legal responsibilities, Quick’s professional activities include serving in leadership roles in several bar assoc- iations. He also co-wrote/produced an educational video that illustrates corporate governance issues and best practices.
Rich Reeda rich reda
Rich Reda comes from a line of insurance men. Both his father and grandfather were in the business, and Reda, who is a producer and director at Lockton Companies, followed in their footsteps. His family history might have given him just the insight he needed to help re-engineer the voluntary benefit segment of the employee benefits industry, which resulted in smoother communication, more knowledgeable employees and improved enrollment performance from the insurance underwriters.
“I owe the success I have achieved to my family, education, faith and health,” says the father of five. And in return, he gives back to all facets of his success. He leads weekly continuing education classes for Lockton associates. He is the founder and past president of the St. Ann Men’s Club, a candidate sponsor for the St. Ann Right of Christian Initiation for Adults and holds a leadership position in the American Heart Association’s Heart Ball. To keep fit and on top of his game, this 37-year-old begins each day with a 5:15 a.m. exercise regimen.
“Competing in marathons and triathlons keeps me physically and mentally prepared for the challenges posed by a changing marketplace and a growing family,” Reda says.
