K.C.-based Unbound launches Global Insight Series

Kansas City, Kansas – Unbound, the international charity founded and based in Kansas City, is opening its doors to the public March 29 for a special new learning opportunity. Every spring and fall, Unbound brings three of its top leaders from program sites around the world to Kansas City to learn and to teach headquarters staff about key innovations and learnings from their work challenging poverty in communities around the globe. The presentations had been exclusively for Unbound staff – until now.

Featuring remarkable stories and on-the-ground perspective, the Global Insight Series will give people who want to make a real difference in the world a chance to hear from leaders at the heart of the work.

WHY: More than 1.3 billion people around the world live on less than $1.25 per day (United Nations Human Development Report, 2014). With so many divisive issues in the news around the world, this is a chance to go beyond the headlines and learn about advancements everyday families are making in their efforts to overcome the challenges of poverty.

People want to know if the support they send overseas makes a difference. This is a key chance to meet on-the-ground experts who are helping to innovate remarkable solutions to some of the toughest challenges children and families around the world face.

BACKGROUND: Unbound brings people together to challenge poverty in new and innovative ways. Founded 35 years ago in Kansas City and headquartered in a converted warehouse on Southwest Boulevard, Unbound partners more than 310,000 children and elders around the world with 260,000 sponsors.
