UMKC and LaunchKC Agree to Strengthen Tech Mentorship

University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) and LaunchKC—the global tech-grants competition whose winners will be announced this Friday as part of Techweek Kansas City—have agreed to join forces in better mentoring idea-people in the tech industry.

The letter of agreement includes LaunchKC, UMKC’s Small Business & Technology Development Center and its Regnier Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

The three organizations will collaborate on mentorship for successful LaunchKC grant recipients and, potentially, for LaunchKC grant applicants who don’t receive one of the organizations 10 annual awards.

“The primary aim is to expand Kansas City’s mentor support services for early stage businesses for job and investment creation in the Kansas City area,” according to UMKC’s Carmen DeHart, director of the Small Business & Technology Development Center.
