Missouri Jobs Set Record High

Missouri’s Department of Economic Development reported seasonally-adjusted data this afternoon, showing that  nonfarm payroll employment in the state grew by 4,200 jobs in August for a new state-record high of 2,821,900 active jobs.

Combined with the July jobs number, employment in Missouri has grown by 7,400 jobs over two months

The largest private-industry employment growth for August was in administrative, support & waste management services, health care/social assistance, retail trade and construction.

The state’s unemployment rate for August was 5.1 percent, slightly higher than the national rate of 4.9 percent for the same period.
