Merriam Kmart Site Getting New Life

Block & Company, Inc., Realtors announced today that it had purchased the former Kmart shopping center in the southeast quadrant of I-35 & Shawnee Mission Parkway. That 11.8-acre property will take on new life as a mixed-use development featuring retaurants and retail stores, along with entertainment options and hotel sites.

 

The property at Antioch Road and Shawnee Mission Parkway is considered one of the few prime tracts of its size and accessiblity that are available in the inner ring of suburbs around Kansas City.

A release from the company said the transformation would include green spaces with ample landscaping and walkways that will create a pedestrian-friendly atmopshere, and will include art and historical features. Block said it would handle all phases of the development, including the leasing, property management,and construction management for the property.
